BHR to Honor Bobby Allison at SalemSeptember 7, 2016
Munford, AL – Bret Holmes Racing announced Wednesday its plans to honor NASCAR Hall of Famer and founding member of the iconic “Alabama Gang,” Bobby Allison with a special decal on the 23 Holmes II Excavation/ Southern States Bank Chevy this weekend at Salem Speedway.
The decal is a mirror image of the legendary Bobby Allison Racing logo that has been a staple of the legendary driver for many years. The logo contains the Bobby Allison Racing name along with Hueytown, Alabama across the bottom.
The logo will be displayed on the hood of the car and will be visible on track throughout The Eddie Gilstrap Motors Fall Classic 200 presented by Meadow View/Salem, where Bobby has been named Grand Marshal of the historic 100th Salem ARCA race.
“We are truly excited to announce this tribute to a legendary driver and one of my racing heroes, Mr. Allison,” said Bret Holmes. “He represents everything a young stock car driver coming out of Alabama wants to be. When you think “Alabama Gang,” you think of Mr. Bobby. We heard that he was going to be the Grand Marshal at the race this weekend, so we jumped at the chance to honor him.”
Allison, the 1983 NASCAR Winston Cup champion won at Salem Speedway in 1975 while racing in ARCA and also was named one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998.
This weekend at Salem will be the fifth of seven races Holmes is scheduled to run this season in ARCA, and after a fourth place finish at Berlin earlier last month, he looks to add to his list of dominating performances.
“We have a good car for the race this weekend, and with another Alabama native, Grant Enfinger on the pit box, we think we can put together a good run,” Holmes said. “We have had solid top-5 cars all year, and how cool would it be to get another with the Allison logo on board. It should be a weekend to remember for BHR.”
The Eddie Gilstrap Motors Fall Classic 200 presented by Meadow View/Salem Crossing tops off two full days of celebration that kicks off on Friday, Sept. 9 with a Golf Scramble, Hauler Parade and evening Fan Fest at the track.
